South Asia Co-operative Environment Programme (SACEP) is delighted to announce the launch of the South Asia Regional Biodiversity Clearing House Mechanism (HM). This regional biodiversity CHM was established in line with the SACEP Governing Council Decisions. It also supports the Decision X/15 of CBD COP which states that “Contribute, whenever possible, to cooperation initiatives aiming at developing regional, subregional, thematic, or national clearing-house mechanisms”.

The South Asia Regional Biodiversity CHM is created to facilitate the sharing of data and information on the conservation and sustainable use of biological diversity between and amongst various stakeholders in the national, regional and global levels.

We have obtained data from official reports of respective government authorities of our member countries for the initial stage and SACEP hopes to update it regularly with new information. We invite our member countries, National Focal Points and other interested parties to provide us with new information.

Finally, SACEP would like to extend its sincere gratitude to Bay of Bengal Large Marine Ecosystem Project (BoBLME) for providing necessary funds to develop this CHM website..
